The Biosystems Technology Department is dedicated to the mission of producing technologists who possess the skills and knowledge necessary to address the fundamental needs of life: food, water, energy, environment, and health. Study with us
Our undergraduates learn to integrate biological sciences with engineering and computing applications in order to develop practical solutions to problems associated with biological systems. We allow our students to work in bio-based industries from the first year on, offering them hands-on experience related to their classroom learning. Our small class sizes allow one-on-one interactions with senior academics and industrial experts providing students with great opportunities to develop their knowledge and skills.
Business and industry connections
The department has relationships with producers, processors, and users of end-use bio products, raw material suppliers, and engineering organizations. The faculty’s Industry Advisory Board, comprised of representatives from private organizations, government agencies, and industry, provides advice and assistance to the Department as well as career opportunities for our students.
