In a dynamic move toward fostering innovation and expanding academic horizons, the KDU Faculty of Technology has engaged in fruitful discussions with Chairman Prof. Dr. Golam Abu Zakaria and CEO Prof. Hasin Anupama Azhari of the South Asia Centre for Medical Physics and Cancer Research (SCMPCR) on 22nd September 2023. SCMPCR aims to provide a common platform for advancing cancer care practices and medical physics in South Asia. SCMPCR also has a keen interest in organizing and conducting training programs to develop skilled manpower in alignment with UNDP SDG-goal 4 (Quality Education).
One of the pivotal outcomes of these discussions is the formal affiliation of the KDU Faculty of Technology with SCMPCR. This strategic partnership is set to promote interdisciplinary research and knowledge sharing between technology and medical physics. Faculty members and students from both institutions will have the opportunity to access each other’s resources and expertise, thereby elevating the quality of education and research.
Simultaneously, the discussions further identified the importance of introducing student exchange programs with South Asian countries, allowing KDU to expand its global reach. These programs will serve as a conduit for cultural exchange and academic enrichment, providing KDU students with invaluable international exposure. This initiative aligns with KDU’s commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive educational environment. Prof Prasanna Premadasa, the Dean of the faculty and Ms Dinelka Rasnayake, joined the discussion from KDU.
